The season is over!

Hey guys sorry for the delay on my posts but today just a short post to round up on the winners for this season.

So season of 2010/11 is over for most leagues now around the world. Here's the winner from each main league.

Premier League - Manchester United
Scottish Premier League - Rangers
Ligue 1 - Lille
Serie A - AC Milan
Primera Liga - Barcelona
Bundesliga - Borussia Dortmund


Since there will not be any football for a couple of months I'll keep you updated on the key transfer news happening until Transfer Deadline day. Not forgetting the Champions League Final between Man United and Barcelona which I will be commenting on.

Summer Spending

Hey guys what's up another post here and today I'm going to be writing a long piece about my personal expectations for summer transfers, this does not mean I know for certain where players are going or even if the clubs I mention will even buy or sell it's based purely on my opinion.

Man City first and why not since they've already spent over £450,000,000 on players over the last 3 seasons. With them guaranteeing a spot in the Champions League next season it's almost a certainty that they will be wanting to build on their already impressive squad. Since they already have every position covered well it is not clear where they would prefer to strengthen but with the talk of Kaka, Iniesta, Xavi and other class midfielders it seems the most likely place they would like to strengthen would their midfield.

Man United next and with Champions League guaranteed as well as winning the title they already seem to have a very strong side, the only concern is the age issue. Van der Sar has already confirmed his desire to retire from football at the end of the season and Scholes is also unsure whether or not he will stay. This means that they will have to look for a top class keeper - perhaps Neur? and possibly a hardened midfielder, such as De Rossi who fits the bill perfectly.

Arsenal had a poor season this year in terms of yet again not winning anything. This has been an issue for Wenger for some time now and it could be the Manager that gets replaced. The Arsenal squad although young and full of talent hasn't got the backbone that other top teams possess to challenge for trophies. What I mean by this is that they need a solid keeper (and have needed one for some time now) as well as a reliable centreback to partner Vermealen, perhaps Subotic?, a holding midfielder and possibly a goal-poacher to come in for the injury-prone Van Persie.

Chelsea has already spent £77,000,000 in January which leaves them having to make up for that loss by selling if they want to comply with FIFA's fair play rules, meaning that if they do not make up for this they won't be elegible for European football. For Chelsea to win more trophies it is clear that what they need is a reliable right back to takeover from the ever-stagnating Bosingwa, as well as this Chelsea's strikeforce (Anelka, Drogba, Torres) is ageing and currently out-of-form which could mean they replace one or two of these in summer - Lukaku being my suggestion.

Liverpool finally. Since taking over from Roy Hodgson Kenny Dalglish has revamped Liverpool fc with added life almost doubling the previous managers winning record in the space of just a few months. Added to this Liverpool have been taken over by Fenway Sports Group who also own the Boston Red Sox and they have pledged to invest in Liverpool's future, by bringing in young-talent for the years to come. It has also been hinted that as many as 5 first team worthy players will be added to summer. The places needed to be strengthened are Left back, Centreback, holding Midfield and both wings. There has already been an agreement for Sylvain Merveaux to join and interest from Liverpool has been announced by Marin, Sanchez, Hazard, Young and others.

Monday Night Football - Fulham vs Liverpool

Hey guys what's up Jimmy here with Monday's blog on the Barclays Premier League match between Fulham and Liverpool which I promised you from yesterday.


Here was the lineup for tonight's game,

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Flanagan, Maxi, Spearing, Lucas, Meireles, Suarez, Kuyt. Subs: Gulacsi, Cole, Kyrgiakos, Wilson, Poulsen, Shelvey, Robinson.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Baird, Hughes, Hangeland, Salcido, Davies, Murphy, Gudjohnsen, Sidwell, Dempsey, Dembele. Subs: Stockdale, Johnson, Senderos, Etuhu, Kakuta, Zamora, Greening.

Liverpool were going into this game on good form being unbeaten in 4 whereas Fulham were also going into the game on good form taking 7 points from their last 3 games. 

My prediction for this game was that it would be a difficult game for Liverpool as Fulham are notoriously good at home. But due to Liverpool's recent great turn of form I believed they could still nick a slight win, so 1-0.

However, the game proved to blow my prediction apart as it turned out to be one of the best games this season.

The game got underway and Liverpool showed dominance from the kick-off as Liverpool managed to get an early goal from Maxi Rodriguez within 32 seconds after a great run by Suarez and a miscalculation by Fulham's keeper Schwarzer 

The pressure continued and Maxi got a second goal at the 6 minute mark with some perfect build up play involving Lucas, Suarez and Johnson. 

Kuyt then added to the score to make it 3-0 with a somewhat tame effort that the keeper should have dealt with, and so the Reds went into half-time with a mighty lead.

As the second half kicked off it was clear that Fulham had came back into the game determined to put up a fight, constant pressure from Fulham soon earned them a goal at the 57th through Moussa Dembele.

Maxi Rodriguez then added a 4th to Liverpool's score-sheet in the 70th minute as he netted a great outside of the box effort into the top left corner for his hat-trick! 

Suarez finished Liverpool's goal-scoring rout as he deservedly added a 5th making it 5-1 with a beautiful effort to take it round the keeper and score.

Finally Fulham's Steve Sidwell topped off the score-sheet with a beautiful effort from outside the box equaling Maxi's 3rd.

The game ended 5-2 to Liverpool wrapping up a truly thrilling game with two outstanding performances from Luis Suarez and Maxi Rodriguez moving Liverpool up to 5th place.

Fulham 2-5 Liverpool

This weekend's results!

Hey guys what's up Jimmy here with this weekend's results!

Well we'll start with Saturdays fixtures, it proved to be a quite tame weekend with many draws and wins by only 1 goal. Everton gave us a surprise when they beat Man City 2-1 but they shouldn't have much to fear as they have pretty much secured a champions league place. West Ham, Wigan and Blackpool dropped points moving them closer to relegation.

Sunday's results now and Wolves showed their spirit as they beat West Brom by 3 goals to 1 allowing themselves to climb out of the bottom 3. Stoke also provided a surprise as they beat Arsenal 3-1 ending any comeback by the gooners to challenge for the title. Finally the biggest match of the day fell to Manchester United and Chelsea, the game got to a quick start as Hernandez scored for United within 33 seconds! Vidic made it 2 for United and even a goal by Frank Lampard to make it 2-1 could not stop the red devils who after winning 2-1 have all but secured the Premier League title this season.

Champions league updates!

So as we all know the Champions League is well on its way and is now nearly over with only the final to be played. The final will be between Barcelona and Manchester United at Wembley Arena on the 25th of May.

Manchester United were favourites to get to the final as they were lined up against Shalke, who had never progressed this far in their clubs history. With a 6-1 thrashing over two legs it was evident that United were the better side.

Barcelona did not have an easy ride to the final, probably their toughest test was facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals. 'El Classico' as it is known had now been played 5 times this year but Barcelona showed they had the minerals to push them through after a 3-1 win over two legs, with Messi once again stealing the show.
